calibrated and extensively tested for reliability. The HP 438A Power Meter was calibrated using the procedure outlined in the service manual with a NIST traceable, Agilent, 11683A Range Calibrator.
You will receive equipment which is in comparable condition to the instruments shown in the photos.
The storage case will hold the 8482A Sensor, 5-foot sensor cable, and small accessories such as coaxial adapters, attenuators, etc.
The metal, snap-in, stands, sometimes called "bails," will be included if we have them in inventory.
Reconditioning the HP 438A Power Meter:
We have extensive experience in refurbishing HP 438A Power Meters as we have refurbished hundreds of them.
The 438A Power Meter is completely disassembled down to the bare chassis. All boards and components are cleaned at a grounded, anti-static workstation. The printed circuit board's edge connectors are cleaned using lab-grade denatured alcohol. The fan is usually replaced depending upon age and condition.
The RAM backup battery is checked and replaced if necessary.
The front panel display and push button assembly are completely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and polished. The display lens is replaced or polished and has a new finish. The push button switches checked for performance and replaced if needed. Overall, the front panel will look as perfect as it can with very minor blemishes, if any.
The outside of the 438A is thoroughly cleaned, old stickers are removed, and missing or damaged housing trim pieces are replaced.
After reassembly, t
he three power supplies (+/- 15 VDC and 5 VDC) are checked for proper level and excessive ripple and noise and are adjusted to spec., A/D slope adjustment, 220 Hz freq adj., range 4 and 5 shaper, power ref frequency, and level adjustments are made. Lastly, t
he instrument is calibrated
using the procedure outlined in the service manual with a NIST traceable, Agilent, 11683A Range Calibrator.
The 11683A Range Calibrator is for demonstration purposes only and is not part of this sale.

Description/Features:
The
Hewlett Packard 438A power meter
is a dual-channel power meter explicitly designed for ATE systems. The compact front panel saves critical rack space, while the dual-channel design allows simple and accurate measurements of the ratio and difference of power levels from two separate sensors.
The
Hewlett Packard, 8482A Power Sensor,
is designed for use with the EPM series, EPM-P series, 70100A, E1416A, and 43x power meters and provides extraordinary accuracy and stability. The Keysight Agilent HP 8482A, Power Sensor, gives you extremely low SWR and is traceable to the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This calibration provides traceability to NIST, and it eliminates the uncertainties due to temperature changes and the variance in making measurements with different meter/sensor combinations.
The 8482A has the following operating parameters:
100 kHz to 4.2 GHz operational frequency range
-30 to +20 dBm power measuring range
50 ohms
Thermocouple sensing element
Excellent return loss (SWR)
